The Ximius USB cable is TUBULUS flagship usb cable and is very‘analog’ sounding. It’s based on pure silver conductors. These are solid coreconductors to minimize strand interaction, which is a major source ofdistortion.

Each usb audio conductor consists out of multiple pure silverwires. These multiple silver wires are individually insulated by air becauseair insulation is (next to a vacuum) the best dielectric.

This air insulation is made possible by our unique Septet HelixTube Construction which can only be made by hand. With this Septet Helix TubeConstruction the silver wires are held firmly into place to prevent the wiresfrom vibrating freely in the air.

The pure silver conductors of the TUBULUS Ximius USB Cable areshielded with 2 foil screens and a thick copper braid with a 100% coverage andvery low resistance. 2 special layers ensure a better distance ratio betweenthe shielding and conductors.

To preserve signal integrity the power conductors are physicallyseparated from the audio conductors. With this construction there are 5 layersof shielding separating the power and audio conductors.

To prevent radio frequency interference (RFI) from modulatingthe ground reference, skin effect filtering is applied to the shield. This is avery effective way to eliminate noise and RFI before it reaches the component.

With a special thermo-process the silver conductors arerestructured at a molecular level to reach a quality close to mono crystalsilver.

The TUBULUS Ximius USB Cable is finished with shielded plugswhich are soldered with silver containing solder. All this makes it an uniqueusb cable.

WHY BUY A TUBULUS USB CABLE?
A high end USB cable may sound like nonsense. After all it’s just 1’s and 0’sit has to transport. Any USB cable can do that. But those 1’s and 0’s have tobe transported by a bunch of electrons traveling through a wire and electronsdon’t know if they are ‘analog’ or ‘digital’. In fact, all electrical signalsare analogue.

However, the digital signal is different; it is a pulse train, asquare wave instead of a sine. But a perfect square wave doesn’t exist, becausetransition from one to zero requires time. So there is always a rise/fall timeand the edges of the square wave will be rounded. In fact the square wave is akind of trapezium with rounded edges.

Depending on the quality of the cable, the corners of the squarewave will round off to a greater or lesser degree and the “flat” portions ofthe wave will become uneven as well. Small changes will make it harder for thereceiver to detect the exact moment the rise or fall is happening. This willinduce jitter. And if the changes become too big, the receiver will not even beable to reconstruct the logical 1’s and 0’s properly.
